Stephen MacMahon Stephen MacMahon is Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine and Epidemiology at the University of Sydney and Honorary Consultant at The Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. He is also Principal Director of The George Institute, a Sydney-based medical research centre with a worldwide program of clinical and epidemiological research. Stephen chairs the Foundation Council of the GFHR-World Bank Initiative for Cardiovascular Health Research and the Scientific Advisory Board of the MRC/Wellcome Trust UK Biobank Project. He serves on the boards of several medical research institutes and biotechnology companies. He also serves on advisory boards for a number of major pharmaceutical companies. In 2000, Stephen was the recipient of the Eccles Award from the National Health & Medical Research Council of Australia for his research on the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. He has published more than 250 scientific papers and given more than 200 invited lectures at international scientific congresses. Stephen is a founding Board member of AACT and serves as its Chair.
