The Berman Center for Outcomes & Clinical Research
Background
The Berman Center has been conducting clinical trials research for more than 40 years. Founded in 1966 by Dr. Reuben Berman, a pioneer in the field of cardiovascular clinical research, its primary mission is to enable the medical community to offer better patient care through better research. The Berman Center is part of the Minneapolis Medical Research Foundation (MMRF), which oversees the research conducted at the Hennepin County Medical Center, an acute care research and teaching hospital.
Experience
Since its inception, the Berman Center has been a clinical site for over 75 trials, largely in the following research areas:
- Heart Disease
- Diabetes
- Women's Health
- Kidney Disease
- Stroke
- Neurological Disorders
- Cancer
- Back & Neck Pain
- Alternative Medicine
On several of these trials the Berman Center initiated the investigation, and was responsible for study design, implementation and analysis.
Capabilities
The Berman Center provides clinical research support to local, national, and international investigators. It is currently coordinating the regional clinics for ACCORD, coordinating all U.S. clinics for SHARP, and is serving as a clinical site for other trials. In addition to recruiting, enrolling, and following clinical trials participants, the Berman Center supports investigators at all stages of the research process - from preparing applications for funding, securing all necessary regulatory approvals, reconciling expenses and budgets, managing study data, and analyzing and reporting study results.
